Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro has said the recent tour by ODM Coast governors will not change the political situation in the region ahead of the August elections.
Mung’aro said the rallies organized by Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Amason Kingi( Kilifi) and John Mruttu( Taita Taveta) will not weaken Jubilee’s support base. The MP said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have initiated projects all over the nation including in Coast counties. Mung’aro, who has declared interest in the Kilifi governor seat, launched a scathing attack against the governors saying they should use the rallies to defend their performance scoreboard rather than criticise Jubilee.“Instead of the governors using the tour to tell Coast people about their development records, they persistently used it to launch a scathing attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta and his administration,” said Mung’aro, as quoted by the Nation.Mung’aro further said the leaders are using the tour to gain political mileage as they fear losing their seats in the forthcoming elections.“The tour is nothing other than a mere tantrum to seek popularity by the three governors who have seen their re-election getting thinner by the day,” said Mung’aro.
