Hours before his death, Masha had had dinner with Mung'aro in Mombasa to iron out their issues after the MP raised complains about a story written by the deceased in the Standard Newspaper on August 31.

In the story, Masha had analysed Kilifi gubernatorial race and named the top contenders and this is said to have irritated the Mp who termed it as damaging and could cost him votes.

The deceased family also claim to have retrieved a message from his phone from one named Mr Mabruk who asked"Why are you frustrating me?"

Kenya Union of Journalist (KUJ) have asked the police to conduct speedy investigations into the matter.

“We are demanding thorough postmortem to reveal the cause of Masha’s death. We also want the MP and a Mr Mabruk investigated to find out if they have a hand in Masha’s death,” KUJ Secretary General Erick Oduor said.

According to his family, Masha had complained of abdominal pain after having dinner with Mung'aro and later collapsed in the toilet and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
