Just a day after Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi raided his Kilifi North backyard, Jubilee Party governor hopeful Gideon Mung’aro retreated back to his political base on Thursday to neutralize any gains the incumbent may have made.

Mung'aro who toured Tezo Ward where he met a group of lobbyists and campaigners said Kingi's tour of the area will count for nothing during the election day as the constituency is firmly behind his bid. While plotting for the political death of ODM and other opposition NASA affiliate parties in the constituency, Mung'aro asked his foot soldiers to change tack and adopt door-to-door campaigns. The lawmaker, who took issue with the current regime claimed that the Governor has failed in his mandate and it was high time residents in the county elected a leader who can work for them irrespective of their political affiliation. While warning Kingi to brace for a tough battle in the August polls, Mung'aro who is President Uhuru Kenyatta's main man in the region claimed devolution has failed to work in the county due to Kingi's petty fights with the President. He further asked the residents to reject the ODM's six-piece voting pattern, adding that no one has a right to impose leaders on the residents.
