Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro has pleaded with residents to support his gubernatorial bid, arguing that he is the only candidate who can bring transformative leadership and development in the county.
Mung’aro said the county needs a development conscious leader who will push for local’s interests.
In an interview with the Standard, the governor hopeful said he has what it takes to be Kilifi’s next governor.
The ODM rebel MP promised to initiate projects that will directly empower locals if elected in the August 8 general election, adding that his administration will focus on eradicating poverty which he said is a major problem in the county.
The Jubilee governor hopeful also pledged to create jobs for youth and empower women and Persons with Disabilities (PLWD).
Mung’aro criticized Governor Amason Kingi’s administration accusing it of allegedly sidelining youth and women.
He further accused Kingi’s administration of nepotism and corruption in job allocation.
“Nepotism, tribalism and corruption are rife in Kingi’s government and that is what my administration will focus to fight if I am elected governor,” he said.
Mung’aro at the same time accused Kingi of allegedly bribing locals in a bid to secure hi re-election.
He claimed the county government is initiating suspicious projects aimed at wooing residents, citing a Sh50 million school milk programme initiated by Kingi’s administration, terming the project a campaign tool.
He urged locals to remain united and support him so as to send Kingi and his cronies packing come August.
