Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro has said the National Super Alliance(NASA) principals should forget the Coast votes over failure to address land related cases when they served in different capacities during past regimes. The Kilifi gubernatorial aspirant took a swipe at ODM Party leader Raila Odinga and Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing them of doing little to solve land issues when they were part of the Grand Coalition government. Mung’aro also gave Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi a 30-day ultimatum to account for the revenue his government has been collecting from residents.“If he fails to honour our call, I will be forced to go round the county together with fellow legislators and ask residents to protest against paying taxes until the records are made public,” he said, as quoted by the Nation. The MP said Kingi should come out to shed more light on the use of public funds collected from bodaboda operators and other residents, adding that the Governor has nothing to show since he took over power a in 2013.“Every month, bodaboda operators are taxed Sh300 and it is unfortunate that some county officers moved to court to block the county assembly from knowing the amount of revenue collected,” he added.Mung'aro said Kilifi residents will back the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto because they have shown commitment to solving land problems at the Coast.
