Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi Counterpart Amason Kingi’s push for the secession of the Coast region is not only ill-timed but also ill-motivated, former Tana River gubernatorial aspirant Danson Mungatana has said.Mungatana said the two leaders are using the campaign to push for their own selfish agenda. The vocal politician said he does not support the secession campaign, and urged Kenyans to remain united.“I am vehemently against of secession move. It is ill-informed and lacks vision. Such leaders are self-centered. I totally oppose it,” said Mungatana, as quoted by Baraka FM.Mungatana also launched a scathing attack on the Raila-Odinga led opposition for calling for products boycott, saying the new campaign will hurt the economy of the country. The former Garsen MP argued that NASA supporters are among the Kenyans who risk being rendered jobless following the new declaration. “You are talking about a boycott of products, if you say so, what about your supporters who are working in those companies?” asked Mungatana.Mungatana also dismissed Raila’s call for the formation of an interim government, saying the former Prime Minister refused to participate in the rerun, thus has no mandate to push for a transitional government.
