Former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana has threatened to sue Governor Amason Kingi for linking him to the Sh51m Kilifi graft scandal.
Addressing journalists on Monday, Mungatana termed Kingi’s claims as baseless and inconsistent allegations meant to tarnish his image.
“The inconsistency in these allegations is just amazing. I have instructed my lawyers to study a legal audit of what he has stated since last Friday. We are going to take legal steps because my image has been damaged,” he said.
Kingi called for Mungatana's arrest after one of the suspects in the scam mentioned him as a beneficiary, claiming that the former Kenya Ports Authority chairman received Sh5.1 million.
Mungatana, who has declared interest in the Tana River gubernatorial seat, claimed that Kingi is trying to discredit him in a bid to ensure he doesn’t clinch the seat.
