Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has come out to distance himself from the outlawed Mungiki sect.
Kinuthia has accused his political opponents of crafting propaganda to tarnish his name ahead of the 2017 elections.
Kinuthia was speaking in Nakuru town where he accused political enemies he did not mention of producing a raft of propaganda against him.
“There are people out there who want to tarnish my character, they want to associate me with all manner of bad things,” Kinuthia said.
The governor has been accused of working with the Mungiki to evict hawkers.
