Speaking on Sunday in Nyeri shortly after opening a PNU Party branch in the area, the governor, however, criticised the President's move to dissolve political parties under one umbrella, observing that the presence of multiple political parties strengthens democracy.

“I will criss-cross the country opening PNU offices and campaigning for the President’s re- election. The President has performed well and needs a second term in office,” he said.

“We should allow more political parties to exist. Voters should be allowed to have multiple parties to vote for," he said.

He added that he is going to use PNU to 're-energise' the country’s political environment, both in Cord and Jubilee strongholds.
