Party of National Unity leader Peter Munya on Friday opened a branch in Murang'a county.
Munya who is eying the presidency in 2022 said that expanding the party branches across the country is part of garnering support for his bid.
"I assure you that PNU will pull a surprise in the elections. The numerous people vying for seat in the Mt Kenya region cannot fit in one party and require alternatives," said Munya.
The party has recently been embroiled in a tussle with Jubilee after some members alleged that it was part of the ruling coalition.
Munya has remained opposed the dissolution of political parties to form Jubilee party that will be used for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.
