Meru Governor Peter Munya insists he will run for president in the 2022 general election.

Munya said he will seek re-election as Meru Governor  in the 2017 elections but will go for the top seat in 2022, to bring about the desired change in development across the country.

He spoke Sunday during a fundraiser at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Nyamira County.

The Council of Governors chair thus called on Christians to pray for him to win the 2017 elections in readiness for the big race in 2022.

“What we know as leaders that prayer is everything and as the county governor, I will be eyeing the top seat in 2022 , I call on Christians to pray for me ,” said Munya.

“Nobody becomes successful without prayers and I won’t withdraw my candidature for the presidency in 2022. Let us join hands and work together,” he added.

During the fundraiser more that Sh1 million was raised.
