Former Meru governor Peter Munya has been reinstated as the Party of National Unity (PNU) leader.
This comes 21 days after his ouster.
The Registrar of Political Parties reinstated Munya three days after he made a turn around about supporting the National Super Alliance (NASA) and decided to back President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Through a gazette notice published on Friday, Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndung'u said:
"The list of party officials of the Party of National Unity as contained in Gazette Notice No. 8315 of 2017 is cancelled."
According to the cancelled notice, Munya had been unseated from the helm of the party alongside other officials, with retired President Mwai Kibaki being named party boss.
