Meru governor Peter Munya has rubbished claims by his critics that he should support Deputy President William Ruto come 2022 and shelve his ambition.

Speaking on Thursday in Maua Stadium during a function in which he gave Sh. 3 million shillings to women groups, Munya said, current Senator and his rival in the august poll, Kiraitu Murungi should not try to impede his ambition to take Meru to national politics.

“We said that Meru should also feature in national politics going forward. Kiraitu tells me that I should not vie for president but support the Deputy President. Will someone die if I vie?” Munya said.

In addition, he said that he has better higher education than the Deputy President and he will be on the ballot come 2022.

“What does Ruto have that I don’t have. He does not have higher education qualification than me. I am qualified to be president and I will be on the ballot come 2022,” he added.

Munya defected from Jubilee and now he leads PNU which he hopes to use as a vehicle to ascend to presidency in 2022.

He said that his development record as Governor speaks for itself and urged the residents to re-elect him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
