Meru Governor Peter Munya has refuted claims that he is supporting the National Super Alliance (Nasa) team.

Munya’s political rival, Senator Kiraitu Murungi, alleged that the governor was an undercover opposition supporter.

This is after the Nasa team led by its flag bearer Raila Odinga endorsed Munya’s re-election bid while on a campaign rally in the region last week.

The PNU leader has however rejected the opposition’s endorsement and termed the Nasa leaders as being desperate for votes in the county.

“I do not brief Raila Odinga whenever he is in Meru region for his campaigns. The opposition is desperate for votes and that is why they are throwing themselves at me in order to get advantage," said Munya.

“The Nasa principals must have read the mood of the public that I am popular compared to my rivals, hence their endorsement’s. This, however, does not indicate that I am in the opposition,” he added.
