Legislators from Meru County have unanimously welcomed former governor Peter Munya back to Jubilee.

Munya on Tuesday made a turnaround after recently joining Raila Odinga-led opposition, NASA.

Led by Senator Mithika Linturi, the leaders said Munya's defection was a clear indication that the Meru community was now fully behind the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the repeat poll due next month.

"Munya has made the right decision to join Jubilee and work with us to ensure Uhuru recaptures the presidency," Linturi said.

The lawmakers urged Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi to reconcile with Munya and forget their differences.

"They should bury their differences and unite the community to vote for Uhuru to ensure he wins a landslide," said Tigania East MP Mwirabua Kabeabea.

Expressing similar sentiments, Imenti North MP Rahim Dawood termed the unity call as a great move for the Ameru.

"Munya should stay with us because every vote counts. And for the sake of development, the two should remain united. This will help us as a community speaks in one voice," Dawood said.
