Residents of Munyaka estate in the outskirts of Eldoret town are up in arms over the poor condition of Hawaii-Munyaka road.
The residents are now urging to Uasin Gishu county government to move with speed and fix the road to enable transport operations in the road to be back to normal.
Addressing the press at the estate on Thursday, the residents lamented that recent heavy rains had made it impossible for them to travel to town due to the road's impassibility as it had flooded.
They also demanded to know why the road was yet to be fixed yet a contract on the same had been issued.
"We see a sign post here that there's a contractor who is supposed to have started repairing this road as from May but up to now nothing is going on. We face a lot of challenges using this road especially during dairy season," lamented Francis Njogu, a Munyaka Matatu Sacco driver.
"When it rains we have to wait until the roads dry for us to go to work. Insecurity has been on the rise also especially motorbike thefts along this road as criminals take advantage of the flooded road," added Peter Mugo, a resident.
Efforts to get a comment from Tai contractors who are supposed to repair the road hit a snag as the managers declined to speak to the press.
