Turkana Senator John Munyes who is seeking to unseat Governor Josphat Nanok in the 2017 elections on Monday held a series of rallies to officially kicked off his campaigns.

According to Citizentv.co.ke, Munyes toured Kankurdio, Milima Tatu and Kangakipur in Turkana North where he appealed to residents to register as voters and elect him as governor on the Jubilee Party ticket.

Munyes quit last month as Ford-Kenya chairman to join the newly launched Jubilee Party and declared he would be facing off with Nanok for the top county post.

The former Ford-K chair said he joined Jubilee whose focus is development.

He accused Nanok of failing to deliver on his campaign promises noting that the county needs a leader who can foster development and empower residents.

He said Turkana residents need better hospitals, schools, roads and other essential services

According to Citizentv.co.ke, the Senator also accused Nanok of abetting graft and misappropriation of public resources.
