Turkana governor Josphat Nanok has punched holes in senator John Munyes' candidature for governorship during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking in Turkana East on Sunday, Nanok accused Munyes of continued criticism of his administration, adding that the legislator is unfit to replace him.
“We differed with my senator after he started interfering with the way I run the county government. He has been pursuing his selfish interests instead of questioning how county funds are spent,” he said.
He further urged Turkana residents to reject Munyes' candidature, accusing the senator of misappropriation of public funds when he was Member of Parliament.
“Munyes has perfected [the art] as a Member of Parliament where CDF money meant for construction of projects would end up in his pockets. I stood firm in protection of these funds and it is from this point that we parted ways and he went on to join Jubilee,” he said.
Munyes looks to unseat Nanok on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Nanok is seeking reelection on an ODM party ticket.
