Residents of the Munyu Location of Thika East Sub-County have been cautioned against brewing and consuming illegal brews and instead concentrate on income generating projects.

Area sub-county commissioner David Komen expressed concern that adults in the area had given priority to illicit brews at the expense of education of children and attending to their farms.

He was speaking on Saturday when Thika MP Alice Ng'ang'a toured the area.

The DCC said the residents should turn to farming and revealed that the government had given out chemicals to control armyworms invasion in the sub-county and appealed to farmers to be on the lookout for any other invasion that threatened food security.

Komen said that every effort should be put and sustained to ensure that the minimal agricultural production expected due to lack of adequate rainfall in the area was salvaged.

Most of the crops especially maize have been withering before flowing season after season due to insufficiency of rainfall in the area.

He told wananchi that the sub-county was offering all services expected in government offices despite inadequate facilities and officials, which he said would also be established soon a statement echoed by Ng'ang'a.
