An educationist in Kamwangi town is calling on both county and national governments to extend financial support to day primary schools to transform them into boarding institutions.

Jared Murage, the deputy chief registrar for education affairs in Gatundu North sub county said that day schools undergoing a system change were finding it increasingly difficult to get the necessary infrastructure and needed to be supported to realize their transit objectives.

Speaking from his office in Kamwangi on Tuesday, Murage urged both the national and county governments to set aside funds that can be extended to such schools in order to lessen the burden on parents.

"Parents in this area favor boarding schools but the poverty that is prevalent in this area is making it impossible for them to contribute towards the establishment of boarding institutions," he observed.

He noted that the already established schools should be assisted with beds and bedding as a matter of urgency since most of them were in a wanting state.
