Murang’a count Jubilee Party chairman Simon Gikuru has been suspended following fist fights among MCAs at a Kiambu hotel on Friday.
According to the Star, Jubilee Party officials have now appointed Francis Muheria, the current deputy treasurer, to act in the position following the new development.
A section of the members faulted the suspended chairman for conferring himself undue powers.
The officials have also formed a 7-member disciplinary team to investigate the incident.
The party secretary in the region Samuel Macharia has confirmed that the names of the disciplinary committee have already been forwarded Jubilee party secretary General Raphael Tuju. The committee is expected to deal with all disciplinary issues at the county assembly.
"The committee will not hesitate to take action against any member who engages in gross conduct and violation of party laws such as the violence seen on Friday," said Macharia, as quoted by the local daily.
The party officials on Saturday requested the top brass led by Tuju to appoint a chairman who will be tasked with steering the newly formed disciplinary committee.
The Friday incident left two MCAs and one of the party members sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies.
