A somber mood has engulfed Got Abiero sub-location in South Sakwa Bondo Sub-County following the cruel killing of a middle-aged man by bodaboda operators Tuesday night.

Michael Juma Okech who is in his mid-thirties was attacked in his Aber village house at around 11 pm by a group of boda boda operators who removed his eyes, stabbed him on the stomach and poured petrol on his body before setting him ablaze.

An eyewitness told this writer that Juma was allegedly linked to the death of a man who was killed over a month ago at Atilili in Bondo Sub County, after eloping with his (Juma) uncle’s wife.

The eyewitness disclosed that it is believed that Juma together with other men were hired by his uncle to carry-out the deadly assignment.

South Sakwa location Chief Mr. Patrick Obilo confirmed the bizarre incident saying the boda-boda killers at first mistakenly raided a home in the village thinking it belonged to Juma where they surrounded two houses and demanded the owner comes out before they could set the houses ablaze.

Chief Obilo said that upon the house occupants yielding to their demands they realized they had strayed before they sped off to a neighboring house where they found the slain victim.

The administrator said that the unruly operators thereafter abandoned the victim burning just at his mother’s doorstep and disappeared into the darkness.

Juma was rushed to Bondo Sub County hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to the fatal burns.

Chief Obilo, however, cautioned members of the public especially youths against taking laws into their own hands and instead advised them to hand over suspects to law enforcers for investigations and lawful prosecution.

Bondo OCPD Paul Kiarie confirmed the incident saying police have already launched investigations while the body is at Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary.
