The Tuesday burial ceremony for Michelle Njeri attracted hundreds of mourners, including area MP Jude Njomo and ward representative Wanjiku Kibe.

The MP condemned the incident, saying the step-father was expected protect the young girl and not to cause her harm.

Njomo asked residents to shun drug abuse, saying the habit was one of the contributors to  hopelessness which can eventually lead one to do some heinous acts like that which caused the death of the innocent girl.

“I am appealing to every man in this constituency to take responsibility of his family and make ensure he safeguards his children as an expensive resource to be treasured,” Njomo said

In her part, the MCA said that there are very many ladies in the area and men should ask their hand in marriage and leave the young girls to complete their education and enjoy their childhood.

“I have talked to a lady here and she told me that she has not had a man to talk to her for the past two weeks,” she said.

“I want to tell you men, we have adult ladies here who need men and so ask their hand in marriage and leave the young girls enjoy their childhood.”

The father is in police custody and is set to be charged in court.
