Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has accused a section of powerful Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee of allegedly receiving bribes to manipulate investigations of the NYS saga.
Murkomen is adversely mentioned in the probe, with a law firm associated with him being also under probe for allegedly receiving Sh15 million from a company linked to the National Youth Service saga.
In an explosive letter dated December 16 to Speaker Justin Muturi, Murkomen wants five members investigated by the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges committee.
The MPs Murkomen wants probed include Chairman Nicholas Gumba(Rarieda), Jackson Rop (Kipkelion), Junnet Mohammed (Suna East), John Mbadi (Suba) and Kareke Mbiuki (Maara).
“Did the Chairman and Vice Chair have any meeting with any person adversely mentioned in the investigations and with a view of refusing to invite those persons to the PAC questioning?” Writes Murkomen.
“Did the Chair, Vice Chair and/or any member of the committee meet with any of the Banks and received a payment of Sh40 million to shield them from investigations?” he adds.
The latest twist is likely to compromise investigations to the NYS saga in which Sh1.6 billion was allegedly stolen.
