Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen has once again poked holes into the proposed lifestyle audit and the ongoing unofficial version of it.
Speaking on Citizen Television on Sunday, the vocal Elgeyo Marakwet Senator faulted the idea, claiming that it is being used for a political witch hunt.
He questioned the audit’s motive, alleging that it is largely aimed at victimizing a section of individuals in the nation’s political arena, specifically Deputy President William Ruto.
With Ruto’s name having been mentioned largely after Uhuru gave the directive, with the actual audit, however, yet to be implemented, Murkomen questioned why other richer politicians are not being mentioned in the heating debate, reading malice in the initiative.
‘’Why is it that it is only Ruto’s wealth is being questioned since the audit debate was introduced? Why is it that nobody is speaking about Raila Odinga who is 100 times richer and others?’’ he inquired.
‘’It’s said that he has two choppers at Wilson Airport which has over 100 helicopters, why are the people accusing Ruto not speaking about the owners of the remaining aircraft?’’ he wondered.
Murkomen has been in the front line in defending Ruto from his alleged political assailants and has also gone against the DP’s anti-campaign directive to openly endorse his 2022 presidential bid.
The lawmaker has also opposed the audit, vowing to skip it until it is legalized.
