Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has called on Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to intervene and contain rising insecurity in the county.
He said bandits from a neighbouring county were causing mayhem in the county.
"I am deeply concerned with the insecurity in Kerio Valley, Elgeyo Marakwet County," he said on his official Facebook page.
"Hundreds of gun-wielding raiders from Tiaty Constituency, Baringo County, are killing my people and driving away hundreds of animals with abandon. A middle-aged man was killed in Mon in the latest of these spate of organised attacks on harmless people in Marakwet soil."
"I condemn these attacks on my people and urge security personnel to ensure the perpetrators face full force of the law. Why are civilians who have no respect for human life and people's property be allowed to have illegal guns?"
He said he would team up with area MPs to find a lasting solution to the problem.
"In our continued effort to find a lasting solution to the problem, Hon Kangogo (Bowen) of Marakwet East, and I met IG (Joseph) Boinnet and officials at the Presidency responsible for matters of security," he added.
"While I agree that there is a big role the State can play, we need the cooperation of leadership and civilians on both sides. As elected representatives of the people of Marakwet we have restrained our people against aggression and revenge attacks."
He said it was disheartening to hear reports that some elements in the neighbouring county were encouraging banditry.
"It's even shocking to hear that leaders or would-be leaders are in the midst," Murkomen said.
Elgeyo Marakwet is one of the counties tat has for long experienced high levels of cattle rustling.
