Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has come to the defense of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa following her support for Deputy William Ruto. The senator took to social media, saying that he will fight for the lawmaker after claims that she will be removed from the powerful Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
“The fact that we are even discussing about any punishment to be meted on Hon.Aisha Jumwa for having a handshake with DP William Ruto is just simply a travesty. For the record Commissioner Jumwa is going nowhere. She is protected by the Constitution. We shall defend her rights,” he wrote.
On her part, Jumwa has said that she will not be shaken by the threats from ODM. She dared Suna East Constituency, Junet Mohamed also the Minority Whip and the Director of Elections to remove her from the commission.
“Junet, I am ready for you. Mr Man, you can proceed ... I am ready for you. I have no conflict with the party leader," she said.
The decision of a section of ODM lawmakers from the Coast region to back DP Ruto has caused a storm in the religion.
A number of ODM loyalists have called for the punishment of the rebels for backing Ruto. The rebels have, however, insisted that they are doing nothing wrong by supporting the spirit of handshake.
