Senate's leader of majority Kipchumba Murkomen has criticised Chief Justice David Maraga for convening a press conference to respond to attacks targeting the Supreme Court and its judges following the nullification of the presidential results.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Tuesday, Murkomen accused Maraga of speaking like a biased politician.

He wondered how Kenyans will expect justice "when a Chief Justice speaks with such an anger."

The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator further said once the elections are over, Maraga's press statement will be analysed.

"When the political madness created by the Supreme Court will pass away, the press statement issued by the Chief Justice will be studied and analyzed again," read part of Murkomen's post on his Facebook.

"It is unheard-of all over the world that a judge let alone a Chief Justice can call a press conference to respond to media reports and threaten members of public who might find themselves at some point in time in the courts seeking Justice. It is worse when the CJ speaks like a biased politician who is ready to pay the 'ultimate price'," added the vocal Senator.

Addressing the press at the Supreme Court buildings in Nairobi, Tuesday, Maraga accompanied with other Judicial Service Commission (JSC) members accused some politicians for trying to intimidate Judicial officers and reaffirmed their commitment towards protecting the independence of Judiciary.
