In a Facebook post, Murkomen mocked the former IG, declaring that he will not allow him to put his county under ‘sieke’, a corrupted version of siege, which Mr Kimayo had mispronounced during his tenure as the country’s police boss.

“Verily verily I say unto you Elgeyo Marakwet County will not be under Sieke. At least not under my watch!” read part of the post.

The senator said Kimaiyo's decision to join politics is "a revenge mission" against him.

“Kimaiyo says he wants to run for Senate because I sacked him from office as IG,”Murkomen posted.

Kimaiyo has formally announced that he will vie for Elgeyo Marakwet Senator in 2017.

He said his interest had been propelled by the need to serve, and protect civil servants unfairly haunted out of office.
