Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has remained optimistic despite his rival former IG David Kimaiyo promising him a run for his money in the August polls.Murkomen, who is a vocal politician in the Jubilee regime, exuded confidence that he will beat Kimaiyo come August 8.In an interview with The Star, Murkomen said he is not afraid of facing Kimaiyo in the polls because he has the support of residents.“I will deal him a political blow the same way I thrashed my opponents in the primaries,” said Murkomen.The Senator attributed his immense success in the political arena to the support accorded to him by the community. He said he could not have made it without the support of the people of Marakwet, adding that they believe in his leadership. “Many people say I have become popular nationally, but they should know that there was no way I could achieve this without the people of Elgeyo Marakwet. I am proud of them,” he added, as quoted by the daily.Kimaiyo dismissed Murkomen's sentiments, saying he will beat him with a huge margin.
