[Photo: k24tv.co.ke] The judiciary is currently a threat to the rule of law, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has said.Murkomen has said that the separation of power doctrine is under threat by judges who want to muzzle the responsibility of independent institutions."We are not going to accept any kind of dictatorship and any threat to the rule of law from anybody be it the Judiciary, the Executive or Legislature. Contrary to many statements made by many other people, we are not attacking the judiciary, we are critiquing them," Murkomen said on Monday at Jubilee Headquarters. He added: "Judiciary is not a monarchy that we cannot critique it and voice our concerns whenever we feel they are delivering bad judgements laced with political bias.Murkomen has also taken a swipe at the Law Society of Kenya President Isaac Okero who has termed as irresponsible and an act of intimidation President Uhuru Kenyatta’s attack on the Judiciary over a recent ruling on the printing of presidential ballot papers."It is unimaginable that an institution that I belong to can outrightly take sides. I would like to ask the chairman to declare his interests and who he spoke on behalf of because it is not on my behalf and many other members," Murkomen said.
