Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has linked Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua to the team allegedly working to politically sabotage Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking on Citizen Television’s ‘Big Question’ on Sunday, the Senate Majority Leader claimed that the team is, among others, working around the clock to break the ruling Jubilee Party in an attempt to tame the DP.
Citing Mutua’s recent threat to expose the names of the individuals involved in the maize scandal at the National Cereal and Produce Board (NCPB), Murkomen alleged that the Governor is part of the crew working on tainting Ruto’s image ahead of the 2022 general election, when he is expected to vie for the Presidency.
'‘Mutua has clearly pointed at Ruto and his allies in the threat and the list of names he claims to have and seems to be part of the team keen on sabotaging him. This is part of the plan being made to tame Ruto but Mutua, being too impatient, couldn’t help but release the secret,’’ Murkomen said.
According to Murkomen, the scheme is also aimed at portraying the DP in a bad picture before President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has since declared war on graft, in a bid to separate them and hence paralyze Ruto’s candidature.
‘’Ruto has become so uncontainable that they are now using outsiders like Mutua to try and handle him,’’ Murkomen added.
Mutua is, however, yet to name the individuals in his list of shame.
