Elgeyo Marakwet senator and senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen has contradicted Interior CS Fred Matiang'i over NASA coalition demonstrations across the country which have turned violent with several lives reportedly lost in violent conformations between the police and the demonstrators.
Whereas Dr. Matiang'i has defended the police over the killings, Murkomen has asked the men in uniform to act as per the constitution when dealing with the protestors.
"Kisumu is a city. How do the police know who is from which tribe? All lives matter and police should act as per the constitution," Murkomen said while responding to Lord Mutai @ItsMutai who claimed that the police was targeting members of the Luo community.
While attending a church service in Kisii on Saturday, Dr. Matiang'i warned NASA protestors that the government will continue cracking the whip if demonstrations turn violent even as he claimed that they (NASA protestors) have been attacking police stations.
But NASA top leadership has dismissed Matiang'i's claims with the coalition now calling for investigations into the killings.
