Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has condemned recent incidences where politicians in various counties have attempted to eject principals recently transferred to their schools.
Murkomen, who is the majority leader in the Senate, singled out Bungoma and Makueni politicians over the matter.
Through his official Twitter account, the vocal senator reminded the county leaders that secondary school was not a devolved function.
"Gov. Wangamati and MCAs in Bungoma plus Makueni who are chasing away High School Principals MUST read the Constitution Schedule IV to understand that the management of Secondary schools is not a devolved function," Murkomen tweeted on Thursday.
"They are part of the tribal disease the ministry is trying to cure," he added.
Makueni Members of County Assembly (MCA's) recently attempted to prevent the new St Josephs Girls’ High School principal in Kibwezi from accessing the institution’s compound.
Their counterparts in Bungoma also stormed Friends School Kamusinga and forcibly ejected the new principal on Wednesday morning.
Similar incidences have been reported in several schools across the country in protest of recent mass transfers of headteachers by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
