Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has challenged the opposition to stop ‘delay’ tactics and name Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga as its flag bearer.
The opposition team, which is holding its first joint meeting at the Bomas on Wednesday, is yet to name the person to wrestle with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee.
And in a Tuesday’s interview at Citizen TV, Murkomen sensationally claimed that it is only Raila with capacity to run against Kenyatta.
“The opposition should do away with these delay tactics and name Odinnga as its flag bearer. I am pretty sure that he will be its flag bearer and even Peter Kaluma knows that,” he said.
He added: “The other principals have never shown commitment to even run against Jubilee. I don’t see them giving us a different candidate other than Odinga.”
On Tuesday, Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi revealed that the opposition team will hold its first joint rally end month in Mombasa.
