Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Sunday gave an account of his last moments with Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch's daughter shortly before she perished in a grisly road accident.
Murkomen said he met the late Joyce Aluoch on Friday evening at the Senate's business centre as she finalised travel arrangements for Senators who were expected to leave the country on Sunday for the US.
"We met with Joyce Aluoch in the business center at 5pm on Friday," Murkomen said through his official Twitter account.
"Being a member of the Energy Committee, we discussed briefly their trip to USA. I was shocked to hear yesterday (Saturday) that Joyce is no more."
On Saturday after the confirmation of her death, her father at a press briefing in Kisumu said his daughter had even laboured to help Baringo Senator Gideon Moi secure his travel documents since he was the head of the delegation.
Aluoch died after the car she was travelling in lost control, veered off the road and rolled several times along Nairobi's Lanagata Road on Saturday morning.
"She was one of the most dedicated public officers who served Parliament and the nation with passion and utmost dedication," Murkomen said.
"May her soul rest in peace."
Her body is at the Lee Funeral Home.
