Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has welcomed Supreme Court's decision to uphold President Uhuru Kenyatta's October 26 re-election.

Addressing the media outside the court after the  verdict on Monday, the senate majority leader hailed the court saying that the Jubilee government will now carry on with its development agenda.

''I am impressed by the ruling and now we as Jubilee will focus on implementation of our manifesto and keeping the promises we gave Kenyans. We want to ensure that Jubilee leaves a legacy as the best serving regime,'' he said.

Murkomen further urged the political class, especially those against it to come to terms with the ruling and halt their activities until the next electioneering period.

''We now have to let the political temperatures cool down and leave our aspirations for 2022 as we reconstruct our country. Its now the time to unite for the sake of the nation,'' said the lawmaker.
