Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen now claims Office of the President has resorted to lifestyle audit to block DP William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
While the Elgeyo-Marakwet senator does not directly President Uhuru Kenyatta, he however believes the powerful individuals could be under instructions to frustrate the DP.
"These are the same people influencing direction of government with only a single agenda; separating the president and his deputy," he said.
For weeks now, a section of politicians allied to Ruto have openly opposed proposed lifestyle audit, claiming that it is a plot to nail the DP.
And according to Murkomen, State House is now hiding in the lifestyle audit to intimidate the DP whose wealth acquisition has been questioned by some quarters.
"The lifestyle audit is about 2022 elections, it is a principle called kicking-the-ladder symptom as there are people who want to ascend to those positions and they want to curtail other people.
"Has it ever happened to Raila Odinga who is hundred times richer than Ruto, who no one asks for his lifestyle audit?" he asked adding that the audit is a well choreographed move from State House to undermine Ruto.
Further, he said, State House operatives leaked lifestyle audit to Machakos Governor Alfred Matua, who was 'too impatient' and went announcing it early.
Recalling recent relationship between Ruto and Uhuru, Murkomen added, the president has publicly belittled the DP citing the roadside declaration where Uhuru poked hole at Ruto's unending visits across the country.
