Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has scoffed at the Opposition alliance NASA's plan to set up a parallel tallying centre
The legislator ridiculed the outfit claiming that the decision by the Opposition to have its own tallying centre was a scheme to declare themselves winners after the August polls as witnessed during the party primaries.
“They want to replicate what they have been doing during their nominations whereby someone sets up his tallying centre, counts his votes and declares himself the winner,” he said.
Cases of candidates declaring themselves as winners of party tickets were witnessed in parts of Nyanza during nominations.
Murkomen was speaking on Sunday in Narok South. He accompanied Deputy President William Ruto.
The Opposition alliance is seeking to have their own tallying centre during the August polls, in a move aimed at curbing election rigging.
The move has, however, been condemned by Jubilee Party, arguing that IEBC is the only organization mandated to conduct elections.
