Social media users have hit out at the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen after he declared that he had quit maize farming on Saturday.
The Senate Majority leader posted his surprise resolution on his official social media platform, Twitter, and Facebook but Kenyans were not happy with it.
"From next year I won't plant maize again. I have no contract with anyone to feed him/her with ugali. I am moving to avocados. It's time for the farmer in me to think profit first," reads parts of Murkomen's post that has caused a storm.
Majority of the netizens blasted the vocal Jubilee legislator for trying to distance himself from the recently unfolded Sh1.9 billion National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) scandal.
Here are some of the selected harsh reactions to the Senator' post;
Bettzeki Kipgnetich Chekwen - I had to confirm this account thrice. I mean Murkomen, the man I used to listen to on Aljazeera has gone or you're drunk with power. You mean while farmers are looking unto you guys for solving this menace you're throwing the towel. This is a reckless statement!!!!
Geoffrey Kiboss - You parrot a lot about 2022 and this is how you lead. Are we suppose to follow suit and plant avocados? My friend we had faith in your administration but of late, we feel used and dumped. How is this happening under your nose? Or are you part and parcel in all saga? Majority leader. What a shame!!!!
Twoyem Benjamin Chemo - The Senator meant to distant himself from NCPB scandals if you read deeply. Anyhow experiencing the same? That's not leadership.
