Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has secured the Jubilee ticket for the Elgeyo Marakwet seat.
He won the ticket with over 83,000 votes followed by his opponent John Kangogo who came second with over 12,000 votes.
"I would like to thank the people who believed in me, my family, Marakwet residents, my party, friends and even competitors who gave a good fight," Murkomen said on Tuesday.
"We now continue to work towards making our county a better place," he added.
Murkomen said he will focus on the August election and on serving Jubilee party.
"Before going national, I take this opportunity to say that i will serve the interests of you my people as well as of our party to ensure that we win the next phase."
Murkomen will be facing former Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo who is vying on a Kanu ticket.
