Photo/nation.co.ke.Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has hit out at the Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC) for inexplicably reducing salaries of legislators.
Speaking on NTV on Wednesday evening, Murkomen went ahead to issue new demands to the commission saying that the office of the senate is not an easy one to manage without resources."Reduce my salary up to the much you can but ensure you provide me with a car to enable me meet my constituents whenever possible, ensure that I have enough staff in my office to act as my contact people in the county and provide enough resources to my senate office.This job is not an easy one and sometimes we are forced to dig deep into our resources to ensure that we deliver", he told NTV SideBar show.His sentiments were echoed by his Narok counterpart Ledama ole Kina who added that senators must be paid well to enable them deliver.Earlier in the day , Homa Bay county woman representative Gladys Wanga and her Kiambu county counterpart Gathoni wa Muchomba hit out at the Sarah Serem-led commission for trying to demean and reduce Members of parliament to beggars by slashing their salaries.The commission in July scrapped off sitting allowances and car grants from the legislators' accounts in a move aimed at reducing the public wage bill.
