Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has claimed that 'some people' are working hard to cripple the forthcoming repeat presidential election.
Murkomen, who is the Senate leader of majority, has further termed Wednesday's resignation of IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe as part of the wider scheme to ensure there is no poll on October 26.
The vocal senator insisted that Jubilee was determined to go ahead with the planned repeat presidential poll.
He further dismissed Akombe's claims that IEBC, as currently constituted, cannot conduct a credible election.
"It is not our duty to speculate or imagine that the elections will meet the requirements of the constitution and electoral laws. That is the duty of the court. It is the court which will decide whether the elections met the constitutional obligations," said Murkomen on a TV interview, as quoted by Nation.
In his resignation letter, Akombe lamented that IEBC commissioners and the secretariat is divided along political lines making it impossible to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.
