Senate Deputy Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen is anytime today, Thursday is expected to appear before the National Assembly Public Accounts and Investments Committee, after he was linked to the Sh1.8 billion NYS scandal, by former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.
This follows fresh revelations which emerged, linking the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator to the multi-billion scam, which has seen several suspects prosecuted.
Bank documents presented to the Nicholas Gumbo-led Committee revealed that Murkomen's law firm- Singoei, Murkomen & Sigei (SMS) Advocates, received payments amounting to Sh15 million in two batches.
The monies were paid by former radio presenter Angela Angwenyi's Out of the Box Solutions Ltd, which allegedly received a whopping Sh90 million by NYS, 30 days after its registration, monies believed to be proceeds of the scam.
Murkomen's firm is first believed to have received Sh8 million from the Cooperative Bank, and later received Sh7 million from the Family Bank.
It is however not clear, what the monies were meant for, since Murkomen has been saying his law firm was not paid any money, after it povided legal assistance to Ben Gethi, a businessman linked to the NYS scam.
Murkomen, however, downplayed any links to the scam, and reiterated that his firm received no payment after issuing legal services to Ben Gethi, one of the key suspects in the multi-billion scandals.
Murkomen who is a closest aid of DP William Ruto, had publicly announced that he is ready to appear before any investigative entity for clarification over the scam, and further blamed Waiguru for linking him to the scam, without producing evidence to support her claims.
