Some Kenyans hailed the move by Cord leader Raila Odinga and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria to put aside their political differences and have lunch together, while others claimed it was a move to convince the courts that they had reconciled, so that their cases can be dropped.

Jubilee's Kipchumba Murkomen trolled the leaders who grabbed the attention of the media and Kenyans Tuesday afternoon on Twitter, saying leaders from different political camps eating together was not symbolic in any way.

“Eating lunch together across the political divide is common among us. We do it often at the Parliamentary restaurant,” said the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator.

Patrick Kathurima responded to the Senator saying, “It's always welcome if it is where unity shall come. It was a nice experience having them all there.”

Stephen Odongo added, “Please Senator give us a break, Raila Baba having lunch with MPs from Jubilee and Cord is a great thing.”

Those who were detained over hate speech and attended the lunch at Ranalo restaurant in Nairobi included; Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, MPs Junet Mohammed, Moses Kuria, Kimani Ngunjiri, Timothy Bosire and Women Representatives Aisha Jumwa and Florence Mutua.
