COTU(K) 1st Vice Chairman, Rev. Joel Chebii, has on Tuesday called on leaders to respect retired President Daniel Moi and his house.
Reverend Joel was reacting to last week's attacks from Elgeyo Marakwet senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, on Gideon Moi.
Speaking to reporters from his office, the religious leader urged all leaders especially young leaders in the political scene to respect the retired president's son if they also wanted to be respected.
Senator Murkomen last week launched a scathing criticism of Baringo senator, Gideon Moi telling him not to expect support from Rift Valley just because his father is a former president.
The legislator was speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony of Bureti MP where he told off Gideon Moi to stop lurking in his father's shadow. Something that seems to have angered Rev. Joel Chebii.
"He is a respected leader not only to the Kalenjin community but in the whole country. So young leaders should not talk bad about him.
"Heard some people even say his son Gideon can not construct a toilet, this is contempt of the highest order. If you want to be respected you have to respect the house of the retired president," said Rev. Joel.
The religious leader then wished president Moi quick recovery and a healthy life as he is still an important figure in guiding the nation. Furthermore, he reiterated that leaders should embrace respect because it is a two-way traffic.
"We pray for the retired president so that he can continue to live because we depend on him for advice and his house and children to be respected because respect is two-way traffic not one way," he added
