Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has now claimed that he advised Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho not attend President Uhuru Kenyatta's functions during the head of state's tour to the Coastal region.
In a post published on the legislator's official Twitter handle on Monday, Murkomen further claimed that Governor Joho is trying to seek political relevance by constantly attacking President Kenyatta's administration.
"I told Joho last week that the only service he has delivered to the people of Mombasa is following Uhuru and insulting him," Murkomen said.
"For his re-election, Joho is depending on getting a chance to attend the President's functions. What irony for a man who hates his Excellency," he added.
Joho was on Monday blocked from attending President Kenyatta's Mtongwe Ferry Services launch, and allegedly put under office arrest by security officers.
The launch saw Uhuru attack Joho, accusing the governor of doing nothing as County chief for the last four years.
