Hillary Singei, the lawyer representing Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen's Sing'oei Murkomen & Sigei (SMS) Advocates appeared before the National Assembly Public Accounts and Investments Committee,Thursday.
This is after Murkomen was linked to the Sh1.8 billion NYS scandal, by former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.
Bank documents presented to the Nicholas Gumbo-led Committee revealed that Murkomen's SMS Advocates, received payments amounting to Sh15 million in two batches.
The lawyer admitted before the Committee that the firm received the monies from former radio presenter Angela Angwenyi's Out of the Box Solutions Ltd.
The firm allegedly received a whopping Sh90 million from the NYS, 30 days after its registration, monies believed to be proceeds of the scam.
Murkomen's firm first received Sh8 million from the Cooperative Bank, and later received Sh7 million from the Family Bank, for issuing legal services to Angwenyi's company.
Asked to name other clients that may have done some deals with the NYS, Sigei declined, saying he must consult the clients, before revealing their names to the committee, for investigations.
"We don't represent one company. We have a lot of clients and we can not disclose their details without approval from them. That will be against the law. I must consult them for approval,'' Sigei told the committee.
