The petition which was filed by former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim, whom Duale had floored in the contest, was on Monday dismissed for lacking sufficient evidence.

In a congratulatory message on his Twitter account hours later, Murkomen welcomed the ruling, further hailing Duale's lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahi for successfully defending the vocal leader.

''Congratulations to my colleague @HonAdenDuale for successfully defending your victory in court. Let’s stay woke. @ahmednasirlaw,'' tweeted the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator.

In the ruling, Justice Hedwig Ong'udi threw out Maalim's claims that the election was marred with bribery claims.

The petitioner also alleged that some of the voters were denied an opportunity to participate in the process, with the judge concluding that Duale was elected in accordance with the constitution.

Maalim, as a result, has been ordered to pay a sum of 3 million shillings each, to both the respondent and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Duale was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket while Maalim vied on the opposition's Wiper Party ticket.
