Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi is a more serious presidential candidate than Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula.
He said the Bungoma Senator was not serious for the presidency as he only campaigns in Kakamega and Bungoma counties before "retiring to clubs”.
Speaking in Shinyalu while giving out tea seedlings to farmers from the Ikolomani, Khwisero and Shinyalu, Oparanya said he would vote for the Amani National Congress leader, given the option of the two.
"Wetangula campaigns in this region only. How does he want to become president when he only conduct his campaigns in Kakamega and Bungoma counties only? He is not serious at all. I would rather vote for Musalia than him given the option," he said.
He told Wetangula to stop lying to the country that he had what it takes to become a presidential candidate; asking him to stick to his senatorial seat.
The Governor urged Mudavadi to work with ODM Party Leader and co-principal Raila Odinga for the 2017 general election and try his luck for the top seat in 2022.
“If a Luhya wants to be president under the new constitution, we must work closely with other communities and for now Mudavadi should join Raila to ensure we send Jubilee regime home come 2017” he said.
